GREAT WHITE NECROPSY

February 9th, 2009

Photos from a public necropsy of a Great White Shark i saw while back in New Zealand.  The shark was caught in a fisherman’s net off the coast of Auckland and drowned.  The body was given to the Auckland Museum and they decided to do the obvious thing and have a small public dissection.  But in the end thousands turned up and watched from grandstand seating.  The museum staff even set up a moving line where you could touch its nose and feel the scratches seals made as they were eaten alive.
